The Exeter-West Greenwich Regional School District (EWGRSD) is committed to the provision of an exceptional educational experience for every student in a safe environment. The Special Services Department’s goal is to ensure all students with disabilities receive their federally guaranteed free, appropriate public education (FAPE) in the least restrictive environment, thus promoting inclusive schooling. EWGRSD is an inclusive school community and places a high priority on meeting the needs of all children within the context of the general education program and classroom. This inclusion ensures all students achieve optimal academic growth while developing socially, emotionally and physically as well as allows children to be full members of our community. The EWGRSD Special Services Department offers a wide range of continuum of supports and services designed to identify and serve students including Child Find, specialized instruction, speech-language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, psychology and social work services. Students are determined to be eligible for special education by meeting state criteria in one or more state defined disability areas. The EWGRSD Resource Guide has been designed to provide essential guidance and to help inform all of our internal and external partners regarding the special education process and supports.“Special education” is defined as “specially designed instruction, at no cost to the parents, to meet the unique needs of a child with a disability.” Included within the document are resources and tools as well as useful tips meant to enhance one's understanding of the regulations which in turn leads to accelerated student outcomes and learning. | Events See What Some of Our Students Are Doing!
